Gas Hot Water Heater - Common Critical Components
Perhaps the most common and easiest way to heat water is by the use of a gas hot water heater, and this might be due to the fact that gas is capable of getting the tank up to operating temperature roughly twice as quickly as its electric counterpart, and the cost is also approximately half as much as electricity would cost.
However, one should make sure that the tank is installed in a safe place and is secured to a strong structure such as a wall in regions that are prone to earthquake, as it minimizes the chance of a gas fire happening by turning off the gas connection in the event it that the tank falls over.
Temperature Pressure Relief Valves
The most important component of a gas hot water heater is a Temperature Pressure Relief (TPR) valve. This device helps to release the pressure from the tank when its reaches the level where it is not safe.
Since there is potential for scalding when a discharge occurs of the T&P, so their outlets should be located in safe direction, either it should be piped down almost six inches off the ground or outside of the dwelling at floor level.
Removable Aluminum Anode
The gas hot water heater should utilize a removable anode which helps to prevent chemical reactions between the chemicals present in the tank which may cause erosion. It should be replaced whenever it is needed.
Moreover using an aluminum anode will be effective since it also helps in removing the odor problems that arises in the tank, when there is a reaction to bacteria and magnesium anode and ends up forming hydrogen sulfide. It almost smells like a rotten egg.
Dip Tube
To prevent the problems that occur of incoming cold liquid mingling with the outgoing hot liquid, what is needed to use a dip tube which is a long and narrow tube. It's function is to direct incoming cold liquid to the bottom of the holding tank.
Without this dip tube or in the case of broken dip tube, one wouldn't be able to get lukewarm water at most, and it might always appear like the hot water is running out on you far too quickly.
The thermostat is a very important part of gas hot water heater. It keeps the water at the required heated level while the heater is turned on.
Ease Of Use Controls
There will typically be knobs which makes it easier to select between warm, medium and hot. The gas hot water heater normally should have a drain valve giving it the ability for draining of the tank for the periodic removal of sediment or for possible needed replacement.
These elements that make up the gas hot water heater makes it an economically good alternative to a conventional electric water heater and gives fast and low cost hot water. The possibilities of being able to have piping hot water for your use would be applicable, if one is considering purchasing one.
